Helping Summit Pharma Improve Papua New Guinea's National Healthcare
Customs Brokerage, Cartage, Warehousing, Project Support
To diversify Papua New Guinea's pharmaceutical supply portfolio, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Department of Health (NDoH) opened applications for other medical providers to secure alternative sources to medicines.

Summit Pharmaceuticals Limited (SPL) provides high-quality, safe and effective medicines and medical equipment to government bodies, hospitals, clinics, and licensed pharmacies in Papua New Guinea. SPL's mission is to reduce mortality and morbidity rates in Papua New Guinea by providing innovative quality products and services that meet the community's needs, in a timely and affordable manner.

With the vast majority of cargo going directly to the National Department of Health, SPL needed a reliable logistics partner to provide customs clearance, cartage, and distribution to locations all over Papua New Guinea. This was especially important having experienced problems such as delivering the cargo to the wrong locations, delayed paperwork resulting in suspended shipments, and short quantity upon arrival. One mistake in the supply and delivery of the medicines could lead to the degradation of trust between SPL and the National Department of Health straining their relationship and putting the contract at risk or worse, cancellation.

Drawing from our experience working with Dulux, we were able to assist SPL by utilizing our customs clearance, cartage, and distribution capabilities. Swift now facilitates SPL in distributing medicines and medical supplies to various locations around Papua New Guinea including Port Moresby, Wewak, Rabaul, Hagen, and Lae. Today, SPL continues to supply the National Department of Health and it is our honor to be able to continue contributing in maintaining and improving the general well-being of the people of Papua New Guinea.
